April Ross
April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball stars who have managed to win medals in several Olympics. The American will play in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic medal, along with Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. It could be Ross' final opportunity to claim an Olympic gold medal. Her confidence is high but she is not sure. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that he felt confident we could get a gold medal when we play our best. Therefore, I'm hoping to have the chance too. Ross, who was born 1982, and lived within Costa Mesa California with her sisters and parents, was the first to begin playing sports during her time at Newport Harbor High. She was able to participate in a myriad of activities as a student at Newport Harbor High School. Apart from the indoor game, she played basketball and jogged track as professional athletes. As a finalist in her sport she stood out. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker outside setter and hitter on a volleyball court, according to her college bio. The award was presented to her as the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. She also captured the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are doing what they do in 2017. But, Ross had already been a seasoned player on the volleyball world prior to the pairing. In reality, she was the winner of several major championships while playing with two different partners, one of which was famous for her volleyball skills. In 2007 through 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Along together with Kessy Ross, she won the World Championship in 2009, while racing in the international circuit. The duo were awarded silver medals at the London Olympics. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor won gold, ahead of them. In the end, fate had it that way. Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They went on to earn the beach volleyball bronze during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a college player with the Trojans of USC prior to starting her professional career. She starred in high school and even years prior to going to the beach for professional. Ross's time in the Trojans was stellar. Her achievements included an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in the year 2000. In addition, she helped her Trojans reach the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she suffered a tremendous personal loss, yet she managed to win an All-American. After two more seasons with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them succeed in winning consecutive championships. She was a fantastic athlete, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the college's top female volleyball player. Ross went on to study international relations at USC. Margie Ross didn't see her daughter reach the top of the field in volleyball. Ross suffered the loss of her mother to breast cancer in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She holds her mom in her arms. and Margie is an ongoing source of motivation for her at the beach and in life.
